Chris Down Celtic Designs
Welcome to my web site, an electronic portfolio of my art.

As an artist and illustrator, I have worked in a variety of media, including pen and ink, digital and paint. I have also taught myself the basics of web design and desktop publishing to promote and produce my work. My art has appeared in several forms. Principle among those are books, cards, and window transparencies. For a long time, I specialised in Celtic Art. I now concentrate on digital paintings of figurative fantasy art. The paintings section of my gallery contains my most current work.

I am a member of two online art galleries that allow comments on my work. They can be found at http://chrisdown.epilogue.net/ and http://dysis23a.deviantart.com/. The Deviant Art web site has a journal feature which I add to occasionally to keep people up to date with what I am doing in regards to my latest work.

2009 is coming together as a good year for my art. I am pleased to announce my first solo art exhibition at The Big Red Sofa in Chagford, Devon. It will run from 2nd to 29th November and there is a preview night on Saturday 7th November from 7pm onwards. The venue is a bookshop/gallery, which will tie in nicely with a couple of pieces of my art appearing in two compilation art books in the Autumn. Details in my list of books.

I will also be selling my art at a number of events through the year. So far confirmed are:

3 Wishes Fairy Festival at Colliford Lake Park, Bodmin Moor, Cornwall from 19th-21st June 2009.

Avalon Fairy Ball and Fairy Art Exhibition. Glastonbury Town Hall, Somerset, 3rd October 2009.

Faery, Angel and Healing Fayre, St Johns' Hall Penzance, Cornwall, 24th/25th October 2009.

Faerie, Fantasy, Mythology Art & Crafts Event Flavel Centre Dartmouth, Devon 29th November 2009.

As a freelance illustrator/artist, I am available for commissions. This includes personal portraits as well as commercial work for publication.
